Most cost-effective gun for self-defense (2022 edition) - Pew-pew for me and you-you

If you just had to shoot someone, and this was unavoidable, which gun would you use?
Depends, if it was a Pedofile, Rapist or Murderer. Load him up with .22 and warm up some popcorn, make a show out of it. Anyone else who I might have a smidgen of mercy for, a 107, let that .50BMG disintegrate him or her. (But warm up popcorn before I do.)

@NoReturn Wanted this to be a general thread, not about me specifically.
See, I like you, @NoReturn, you got past Step 3 and in my Tips section you didn't seem to cry like a faggot about it. Little bit of Ribbing goes a long way!👍

Spoken like someone who uses a Hi-Point as a carry gun

lol no, but I have owned one in the past. They are better than having nothing at all.
I speak like someone who wants people to be able to protect themselves, not gain upvotes on a sperg forum.
Yeah, it's better than having nothing, but I kind of have to agree with the Chinaman. I'd rather use as many rounds from the High point as possible then bludgeon the guy/or gal (Equal Opportunity) to death, and then throw it to disorient the 2nd would-be assailant.

Probably my Beretta 92. Is it the largest caliber? No. Is it high capacity? Not really.

What I have done is put more rounds through it than any other gun I own. It feels right in my hand. I shoot it accurately. I maintain it well. I can rely on it without any malfunction.

I will use other guns in other more specific scenarios but if I'm defending myself in any given situation I can see the whites of someone's eyes, I want that Beretta in my hand.

That's a very vague question so I can only give a vague answer.
>self defense shooting in the streets while you're minding your own bidness
A 1911 in fuddy five or a revolver in .38. Least likely chance of a DA with a chip on his should deciding to make an example of you. Citizen involved shootings usually involve under 5 shots fired, and your biggest legal risk is overpenetration injuring a bystander.
>life or death 1v1 situation
A double barreled shotgun. Joe Biden and Cobes got it right, nothing beats a double biden shotgun in a 1v1 duel. Paul Harrel's tests show that number 4 buckshot can kill a man but are unlikely to over penetrate and kill your neighbor.
>life or death situation unknown threat
AR-15, 30 rounds of minimal recoiling centerfire ammunition is hard to beat, that's why its been the zogbot's weapon of choice for over 50 years.

Based murdering grandpa says Hi-point isn't any worse than a standard Glock outside of being as ugly as the black people who use them.

doubt you empty the clip before the slide falls off and shatters for no reason other than you sneezed. Buy a Hi-point like a nigger, deserve for the gun to fail in your face.

Shop around, buy used, and for fuck sake... use common sense.

Using stripper clips in a home defense situation seems like an iffy idea. I know that detachable mags exist for the SKS, but at a glance they seem to cost twice what an AR-15 mag would go for--to say nothing of the ergonomics.

Stripper clips work fine once you get used to them. If you convert an SKS to use detachable magazines you deserve whatever happens to you when it inevitably fails to feed at a bad moment. Or the laughter you will get at the range when it fails to feed there.

Hi-Points are ugly, uncomfortable to hold, more uncomfortable to fire, the size of Utah, and they basically are like holding up a sign that says "I'm poor, yo".

But the one thing they are, against all expectations, however, is reliable as all hell.

Try a Norinco gun for a change, you'll never look back once you experience true Chinese quality.

Never heard of the brand. Have long since gone past needing to buy cheap guns.
Just don't like folks who try to shame others for defending themselves with what they can afford if the product works.
And HiPoints do work. Not completely reliably, but they will still work well enough with little to no maintenance.
There is a huge difference between needing to protect yourself and your family and looking tacticool on the internet.

You misunderstand me, running dog. I'm shaming them for choosing an inferior American product over superior, affordable, high-quality Chinese craftsmanship.

No, it's very easy to get a license if you live out in the country. It's only 'incredibly strict' if you're trying to get self-loading rifles or shotguns, which are generally only licensed to the professional shooters who undertake mass wildlife cullings.
I take it these are the best guns to get gun-autists?

The self-loading rifles (assault rifles) are the best guns to get, but the self-loading shotguns (street sweepers) are only moderately good guns to get because they hold less bullets in the clip.

My two cents are this: what is the situation you're going to be using the gun in ( carry, bedside, etc) , and what are you comfortable with? Personally I have a used Smith and Wesson Model 36 .38 Special that I got for cheap at my LGS. It shoves in my cargo pocket, I can carry it everywhere, and .38 has a proven track record and low recoil fitting such a small gun, not even mentioning the sheer reliability of the revolver mechanism itself.

As for bedside/ home defense, you have the advantage of not carrying it everywhere like a CCW gun. Use what you're comfortable with. Personally that's my old SKS I got at a Black Friday Sale. Always look for deals and ways to squeeze the most value out of the system.

I have one of their 1911s.
Great gun.
Sadly it is no longer legal to import hand guns from China.
I think the same goes for rifles.
Come to think of it I haven't seen as many Chinese shotguns recently.
Used to you could get some cool double barrels for quite affordable prices from China.
I don't know if those are still an option.

Pump shotgun for the home. Can get one for $100-$200 used at most gun shops. They all should work reliablyish as a pump mechanism is a lot simpler than a semi auto action.

Taurus G2 or G3 for a carry 9mm for a budget pick. Wouldn't touch any other taurus gun with a 20ft pole. Other than their rattler revolvers.

Sig P365 for a midrange carry. It's a little bit wider than a Glock 43, but is 10+1 vs 6+1, comes with tritium sights on all them vs spending $90+ and then you have to install them. Also love the grip much more than a Glock.

Best advice for anyone buying a gun is buy as much ammo as possible and go shooting. A 200 box will be burnt through faster than you would imagine. Learn some fundamentals such as grip etc at home, practice on the range. Dry firing at home is great practice as well. Learn how to clear malfunctions safely.

Yeah so you can skip the stock but just go to home depot and for ~30 bucks you got yourself something you can use on the bad man on bath salts trying to break into your house to eat your flesh.

Tapco SKS mags work well, Promag ones are more unreliable, especially the 5 round ones when using hollowpoints, had enough mangled rounds from those mags.

Another vote for the Tokarev. Don't use the old Bulgarian or Czech ammo which is inconsistent, get Russian or even Chinese surplus.
