Saints Row thread

I never got to play 1 and 2. It would be nice to play them on my ps4 tbh.

Also is that Kinsie?!

I always preferred 3 over 4 although I do love the constant references to past games in 4. I don't get why it was always night in 4 though. And your crew barely assists.

Reactions: The Last Stand
You know, sometimes I really liked in 3 and 4 is this little moment you get with Pierce where you sing along to a song on the radio.

It was a fun little moment that made me by how close the characters were. The credits even has all the various Boss voices singing the song together.

I can only imagine how they’ll fuck it up if they do something similar in the reboot.

Wait they brought back Troy and Laura again?!
Lake Bell should replace her as Black Widow in everything and replace her as the Saints voice because it was really distracting hearing her try to be both comedic and sultry.

Also Charles Shaughnessy >>> every other voice from the franchise

i just want to say that i loved rebecca's voice, it fits the hispanic character well (for obvious reasons) and Tara Platt as a russian chick was good on SR3 especially since she has a crush on pierce, the fact that she is not on SR4 just kills it, at least one OG VA that can be used well on SR4 is the african american one (Kenn Michael) and some of the boss's quips change per voice, i like that too since it gives some bits of character to a "project yourself" type of character.
and on one of the missions in SR3 it shows their differences, including zombie (kek)
the changes in their writing is different on a mission where the playa is supposed to be cyrus temple (aside from zombie):
and SR4
to make it further on the voice factor, zimos's quotes are just top gold.

lastly, one of the youtubers that got a "play preview" of the closed build uploaded a video to help calm things down.
(i hate these types of faggy youtubers)

Christ, that additional view just makes it look worse.

Funny thing is, they could probably fix it if they gave people someone, you know, actually relatable instead of trust fund kids trying to pay off their student loans and buy their next Funco Pop to shove up their ass.

BUT, that would mean remaking the avatars, rerecording the voice lines, and changing the story itself.

Honestly, I fucking LOVED Saints Row across the board. IV came out right when City of Heroes got canceled so it scratched the superpower itch for me (And let us NEVER forget Zinyak breaking in on the song like a fucking asshole), three was OK but I hated the city, but 1 & 2 were amazing.

But I"m going to wait for this to move off of Epic and onto Steam and go on sale.

After Cyberpunk 2077 and Fallout 76, expecting me to shell out Day One money is fucking stupid of all these companies.

Volition has since claimed that due to it being cancelled it wasn't canonical, so the actual lore is Dex died along with the rest of the Earth when Zinyak blew it up.

That stupid blow up the world shit really screwed over a lot of dangling plot threads.
"Dex and Killbane? Oh, they died when the planet was destroyed, don't worry about them anymore!"

good game? it's literally SR3~4 mechanics, of course the gameplay will be good but the story? not so much, characters? same shit.

So it's XCOM Chimera Squad all over again, great.

Just pirate it.
Free is still too high a price.

Time is gold, remember that. This shit ain't gold.

The reboot probably only has attention to detail in looks but after Crackdown 3 and Chimera Squad, I'm sure this will fuck up too.

saints row has never been popular thats why we wanted more of sr1 and 2 because they were trying.

The funniest thing is that they probably went this gay fortnite route because the old games sales would have been considered mediocre by today's standards.

What they failed to notice was how GTA Online has become the most profitable thing ever and has been criticized by old fans of becoming more Saints Row than GTA.

There are enough games out there for you to enjoy, and you never ever ever need to actually play woke garbage like this. Just look for an old GTA clone you passed up before.
Yep. I had never played 50 Cent's power fantasy gangbanger/mercenary games before.
They're mediocre as hell, but shine like diamonds when compared to this woke shit.

Well, that's bad writing with your lore. Okay, a fair argument about why SRIV is despised by the SR community.
Tbf if there was a proper sequel in the future I wouldnt mind if IV got decanonised or multiversed

Yeah the complete 180 in tbe marketing is interesting, they must be losing confidence quickly in their product if they are dropping the "we dont care" petrol hate accelerationalism they are doing and instead trying hard to mollify the playerbase

New deep silver cant even take the pressure and instantly cracked to it is pretty funny. Makes one wonder whether that was a community manager with a marketing degree gone rogue or someone with 2 brain cells in the company suddenly realising "shit our game doesnt actually have much to reveal, vamp the audience!"

I also have to say that the writing of "student debt is one of the reasons they turned to crime". What are the other reasons? The backstory and charcter writing is feeling a bit light tbh.

On a less related note; I also miss OG game guide pamphlets that came with console games I remember reading through all the halo ones multiple times to get lore on the weapons and enemy types was the coolest shit

both bulletproof and blood on the sand are fine on gameplay.
there's also true crime.

there is a hidden plot point that the whole saints row thing is just a series up to SRIV, as i posted earlier the ETD video and if you play the gangstas in space mission sequence you'll see all the locations used on the game as tv sets, nolan north has a quote on SRIV "I am just an actor, how many of you are there".

Background

...who cares who I was before I joined the Saints?— Playa refusing to disclose their past to Asha Odekar in The Case of Mr. X
Playa's past life is unclear and only hinted at through dialogue, and each voice gives different details of their past.
  • The character was born in Stilwater, and visited a local massage parlor since junior-high school.
  • Despite already living in Stilwater, he does not have a home at the beginning of Saints Row.
  • Male voice 1 in Saints Row: The Third mentioned that he spent his time killing people in the fresh air when a kid, compared to modern children playing violent video games indoors.
  • Playa mentions having lived in a college dorm when he is reminded of that experience during a mission on a boat importing prostitutes and sex toys.
  • Female Voice 1 also admits during Three Way that she is in a coed curling team.
  • The female voice 2 claims that when she was young, her father would make her fight the dogs for food.
    • Female Voice 1 has a similar idle line, claiming that her father always used to say, "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em... and then betray them in a horrible murder orgy".
  • In the Gangstas in Space DLC, Male Voice 3 shows his disappointment with the fake building set by stating, "This is worse than finding out the Tooth Fairy was just my drunk uncle with a pair of pliers".
  • In the Saints Row IV mission "The Case of Mr. X", Playa informs Asha that they don't see the point in talking about their past after jokingly blaming their behavior on their parents, stating, "who cares what I did before I joined the Saints?" When Asha asks if they had "daddy issues", Playa replies, "Naw, just... forget it".
  • Nolan North voice says during the Zin invasion of the White House "I am just an actor, how many of you are there".
  • When Playa was 6 years old they were into robots.
maybe they wrote it like that so they could tackle many whacky things without losing their "canon".

That SWJ faggot redditor had almost no activity in the SR sub until the announcement. Now he won't stop making threads taking shots at people not onboard with the reboot.

Chuds, you say?
Not a politically motivated faggot at all...

Wow, his profile reveals all he does is spend his time pozzing the SR subreddit. For what, 500-1k upvotes?
You think 1k muppets buying the game will save volition?
