Coming from personal experience, I know how much of a bitch of it is to get and stay clean and did some reflecting on my two years of sobriety. Alcohol (within limits) and cigarettes are the only things I do nowadays, so I was thinking of how bizarre it would be if Chris somehow managed to get hooked on illicit substances.
After finally coming out of his shell, Chris manages to get invited to chill with a small group of people. By this time, he's let go of his taboos regarding cigarettes and now only smokes in social situations. Upon getting used to the environment, a boyfriend-free girl invites Chris to the other room with a couple other ladies to try something different. When the meth pipe makes it's appearance, he's apprehensive at first, but then decides to go ahead and try it because, what the hell, it might get him some china. Having never experienced a feeling like that, he becomes addicted to the energy and happiness that the initial high brings. Wanting to keep the feeling and not experience the come-down, he abandons everything in order to chase the dragon. Barb's whims mean nothing to him and he finally breaks the hold she has over him, leaving him homeless. This doesn't bother him because he has

to keep him going and he can find somewhere to stay. He drops the pounds and soon looks like your everyday tweaker. Not knowing that it's a rather expensive addiction, he soon finds himself broke and having to do things that he wouldn't normally dream of to stay out of the elements. He breaks in to 14BC (Barb has changed the locks,) grabs his Life Upgrade and as many games as he can, and scurries to the nearest pawn shop. Any amount of money helps, after all, it's better than having the shakes.
Years pass, he's a fragment of the person he once was. In an alley somewhere, the only thing that defines him from the other junkies is the cardboard shanty emblazoned with a faded image of Sonichu.
