This is rich coming from the guy who went full defense force for the disney star wars. But besides that, I can't recall other big "prophecy hero" in the recent american block buster shit.
The Marvel capeshit crap is always the same, even if the hero gains it's power or are born with it, they always need to get the obligatory end of act 2 beating so the they rise on the climax. The exception being Captain Marvel (har). And.. i dunno, i haven't watched a lot of block buster hero stuff lately, after end game I'm done with capeshit, so I dunno about spiderman or any of that crap.
Either way, I don't give a shit about what fucken Naomi Wu has to say, she is an actress and a dum-dum anb her basic bitch complains shows it. The funny stuff is that since she tweeted something aking to "I like moviebob's videos", Robert has been retweeting even her farts, it's pretty sad to see someone carrying such a torch on social media like this.
But, I guess, for Robert it's just another day on his pathetic little life...
So Naomi Wu is complaining about movies that have a designated hero who's only badass because of their birthright. How is that any different from a movie with a designated hero who's only badass because they have a vagina? It's nothing but pure Affirmative Action. "Make the "chosen one" a woman/POC/LGBT to undo centuries of oppression and a lack of representation," the movie studios say. But now the audience has to watch a movie knowing that the hero is only there because the studio wanted to tick a certain box. What's worse, the hero has a lousy character and is poorly written, because the purpose of the film is not to tell a good story, it's to push Identity Politics.
Imagine if you lived in an Evangelical Christian theocracy, and every movie had to end with an altar call and everyone bursting out into praise songs every five minutes, regardless of the movies' plot or genre? I'm guessing a lot of SJWs wouldn't like that, and yet they're making non-SJWs endure the same kind of thing with their wokeified movies. If I see one more white male legacy character in a popular franchise reduced to a drooling fool because the plot wanted to make an abrasive, feminist character look better in comparison, I'm going to puke more than if I'd eaten an entire ten course meal of moldy mac'n'cheese and sink chicken made by Bob Chipman.
As for Bob's takes on Star Wars, he does know that the first movie was modeled loosely on the Japanese movie "The Hidden Fortress," right? In that movie, the peasant characters that R2-D2 and C-3PO were based on were basically the comic relief. The movie didn't really have viewpoint characters, like Star Wars did, because it was a drama about a Princess trying to escape enemy territory with enough gold to rebuild her kingom. There really wasn't a Luke-like character in The Hidden Fortress, because no one really acted as an audience surrogate there. But in Star Wars, Luke IS an audience surrogate, because he resonates with the (mainly) young target audience of the film. He's a kid from a small town who wants to shake off the dust of his home and go on adventure. He wants to avenge his Dad and become a knight just like him. Leia, Han and Obi-Wan weren't viewpoint characters in the first movie, as they existed mainly to facilitate Luke's growth. In subsequent movies, Han and Leia came into their own as they developed a romance, and their story started running concurrently to Luke's as a sort of B-Plot, but in the first movie, they were really just part of Luke's story.
