This is rich coming from the guy who went full defense force for the disney star wars. But besides that, I can't recall other big "prophecy hero" in the recent american block buster shit.

The Marvel capeshit crap is always the same, even if the hero gains it's power or are born with it, they always need to get the obligatory end of act 2 beating so the they rise on the climax. The exception being Captain Marvel (har). And.. i dunno, i haven't watched a lot of block buster hero stuff lately, after end game I'm done with capeshit, so I dunno about spiderman or any of that crap.

Either way, I don't give a shit about what fucken Naomi Wu has to say, she is an actress and a dum-dum anb her basic bitch complains shows it. The funny stuff is that since she tweeted something aking to "I like moviebob's videos", Robert has been retweeting even her farts, it's pretty sad to see someone carrying such a torch on social media like this.

But, I guess, for Robert it's just another day on his pathetic little life...

So Naomi Wu is complaining about movies that have a designated hero who's only badass because of their birthright. How is that any different from a movie with a designated hero who's only badass because they have a vagina? It's nothing but pure Affirmative Action. "Make the "chosen one" a woman/POC/LGBT to undo centuries of oppression and a lack of representation," the movie studios say. But now the audience has to watch a movie knowing that the hero is only there because the studio wanted to tick a certain box. What's worse, the hero has a lousy character and is poorly written, because the purpose of the film is not to tell a good story, it's to push Identity Politics.

Imagine if you lived in an Evangelical Christian theocracy, and every movie had to end with an altar call and everyone bursting out into praise songs every five minutes, regardless of the movies' plot or genre? I'm guessing a lot of SJWs wouldn't like that, and yet they're making non-SJWs endure the same kind of thing with their wokeified movies. If I see one more white male legacy character in a popular franchise reduced to a drooling fool because the plot wanted to make an abrasive, feminist character look better in comparison, I'm going to puke more than if I'd eaten an entire ten course meal of moldy mac'n'cheese and sink chicken made by Bob Chipman.

As for Bob's takes on Star Wars, he does know that the first movie was modeled loosely on the Japanese movie "The Hidden Fortress," right? In that movie, the peasant characters that R2-D2 and C-3PO were based on were basically the comic relief. The movie didn't really have viewpoint characters, like Star Wars did, because it was a drama about a Princess trying to escape enemy territory with enough gold to rebuild her kingom. There really wasn't a Luke-like character in The Hidden Fortress, because no one really acted as an audience surrogate there. But in Star Wars, Luke IS an audience surrogate, because he resonates with the (mainly) young target audience of the film. He's a kid from a small town who wants to shake off the dust of his home and go on adventure. He wants to avenge his Dad and become a knight just like him. Leia, Han and Obi-Wan weren't viewpoint characters in the first movie, as they existed mainly to facilitate Luke's growth. In subsequent movies, Han and Leia came into their own as they developed a romance, and their story started running concurrently to Luke's as a sort of B-Plot, but in the first movie, they were really just part of Luke's story.

I'm not gonna watch the Star Wars Robert shit, because I'm a limited human, so sorry to be a fag and ask those who have watched, but does the fatass specify what exactly is Star Wars subverting?

We all know what people mean when they say Last jedi "subverted expectation" meme stupidity. The filmakers didn't want to do the Hollywood preprocessed twist, and instead they fucked over any ongoing story in order to... I dunno, I stoped giving a fuck. The point is, they went the other way people thought and wanted for the sake of being contrarians, because last jedi didn't really add up to anything in the end.

But Star wars doesn't have any precedent to be contrary of, and subvert means to bring down authority, and sure, the story is about rebels sticking to the "man", but no one would be insane to think that Star wars ever wanted to carry any political weight or to be anything more than just a light adventure movie.

So, what the fuck is Star Wars subverting? Nothing about this franshise was stablished to be a counter of, and as far as filmmaking and storytelling goes, it follows the rule book to the T, and it is evident that it doesn't aspire to be anything but a nice movie session to bring your kids to.
I've heard some make a case that at the time, movies were trending in a dark, nihilistic tone, and that is what Star Wars was subverting.

Of course, those movies doing that are praised and lauded in bob's peer group nowadays. Given that bob sees things in such black and white terms, it wouldn't surprise me at all that he is incapable of expressing that movies which are generally considered great, had any faults in them which Star Wars was able to tap into.

I've heard some make a case that at the time, movies were trending in a dark, nihilistic tone, and that is what Star Wars was subverting.

That was the popular perception at the time. (The Time article about it that infamously cheesed off a bunch of grumpy sci-fi writers was called "The Return of Entertainment!") I don't really know how accurate that is. Certainly it was one of if not the most prominent movies of that trend, but it also came out after Rocky won Best Picture, so the trend had arguably already begun.

Rocky and Star Wars I argued were instrumental in restoring the optimism and spirit for Americans following a era of Vietnam, Civil Rights Protests, and Watergate. But of course like everything, Robert is a idiot in understanding the importance and context of the film.

Anywho, that's not what I came here for. This is what I came here for.
I'm not sure what set Bob off the most, the mention of GobbledeeGook, being weary of the potential of weirdos hiding behind being trans, or acknowledging that Jake looks like a homeless bottom bear? These are the mysteries.

Yeah, fuck anyone who points out that some people use being trans as a defense mechanism and aren't really attempting to be trans at all. How can you look at this photo of Secret Gamer Girl and not think they are a trans woman?
Jake Alley.jpg

@Minute 39 & 40 Bob points out that there are 3 different audience surrogates.
Luke= who the audience most identifies with.
C3P0= Auidience POV
Han Solo= Auidience Co-Heckler?
Bob claims this as many people then wouldn't be all that interested in the science fiction jargon, thinking it would be a kids movie. Han solo helps relate to these people as the character itself agrees this is all a bit silly, but fun. So you as the audience should be having fun too.

Sorry this wasn't in the previous post. my brain kinda fried out listening to bob for almost 2 hours straight. Id should probably try to rewrite it to be more in-depth but fuck me you might as well read a goddamn transcript. I was just trying to compress it all down to a reasonable reading time.
Does Bob think connecting some "meta-narrative" to anything make him sound smart?

Why the fuck do people (even some of his detractors) treat this re-tard like he knows shit about film?

When Robert talks about Star Wars being subversive, he doesn't focus on the tone. He grasps at various straws and relatively common film making tropes. If anything, he read that Star Wars was considered a change of pace or a subversion at the time and completely glossed over why. He also didn't seem to consider that subversive for the time doesn't mean it did something revolutionary or that had never been done before. It could be a return to form of an earlier era, which Star Wars was in many ways. Far more than it was some kind of subversive, pioneering deconstruction he makes it out to be.

I'd disagree that dark movies are lauded in Robert's peer group. Nihilistic sometimes, but consider their strong preference for Marvel over DC and negative reaction to the Joker movie. These people generally prefer bright colors, childishness, and moral simplicity.

Far from being subversive, Star Wars was a return to the traditional Western epic narrative. The Sequel Trilogy is failing now because it's being written by a cadre of people who hate the West, so naturally they can't grasp why people love the old movies.

MovieBob is only worth laughing at, his concentrated autistic fury on about everything makes him too biased to take seriously. The reason he even has an audience is because he was an early adopter of YouTube and was lucky enough to find an sizeable amount of people like him that think his videos are worth watching.

He has made clear with his constant vitriol and venom on twitter he is blinded by hate and dogma. For example his Pixels review has nothing meaningful or funny to say. It's just him insulting the movie non-stop for somehow indirectly disrespecting him and nerd culture.

Obviously there's also the part of the Star Wars video where he alludes that Rose Tico is sorta of a straight man in TLJ like Han Solo was in ANH. That was a preview that everyone already saw beforehand and everyone agrees he'd only make that correlation because he defends TLJ like it's his first born son.

I doubt anyone here considers Bob to be insightful. I do know everyone here considers him a Lunatic worshiping fictional characters from video games and movies. And that's worth screenshotting his twitter posts and giving the long story short on his video essays just to see what stupid thing he said today.

Maybe it's mean of me to point out but of the two people who show interest in a shirt, neither can fit in it. This begs the question of why is Robert Lewis Chipman in possession of a 2XL shirt?

I'll be frank with you all. I'm not the most studious Bobologist. I'm not in the know with the deepest Cinema Robert Lore. When I saw that username, I remembered a post from @Rei is shit back in September and thought I might be on to something. Alas, Bob's old usenet site has already been chronicled. Some things that I did not see, however, are posted below. Please keep in mind that this is just a collection of appearances of "MSTmario". I'm basing this as being Bob by the fact of the retarded handle and the age of the posts which would correlate with the time he was using it. That and what's being said seems to fit in with a young Bobbyboi blossoming into a Man-Robert.

And then there's this...

I do not know what it is. I do not know who made it. I do not know why it was made. I do know that it mentions our guy Bob by name and someone called DJ Chipman. It might be some machine learning thing that scans the Internet and just pulls random data together to try write something? Again, I have no idea what I'm looking at. I did a little looking around and there are PAGES of this stuff. Regardless, I've included screenshots of the whole page as the site might be a spook operation and I don't want anyone to get spooked due to me. The relevant shot is the second one down.

Did this nigga go down to the thrift shop, buy a bunch of garbage, and throw it on EBay hoping his fans would want a funky old crockpot in which Blob once crafted some of his trademarked medical waste stew?

Why does he have a set of baby blankets? Did he raid the surface world and find them forgotten in some cabinet?

Holy shit...a vegetable slicing machine? Well you know that was never used.

Is anyone else concerned over the fact that Bob, a nearly 40 year old incel who lives in a family members basement, just happens to have a baby mobile, baby crib set and a toy for little girls in his possession?

:lit: Oh my gosh, it's not even Moviebob merch or autographed shit from his show, he's begging his fans to buy random old crap from his closet and his brother's kitchen and niece's toy chest castaways like an overpriced yard sale. He probably begged his family members to let him take any shit they didn't want so he could sell it on Ebay. :lit: How does someone who makes over three grand on Patreon end up slumming this hard?

The absolute icing on the cake is his shirt not fitting any of them because his fans all seem to be fatter than he is. :story:

Thank you so much for the early Christmas present Robert. You haven't made me LoL this much in a while.

I'll give Bob the benefit of doubt and say he probably bought the mobile and crib set when Chip and Sara were expecting their two kids. Both items seem to be more geared towards boys and he probably jumped the gun. If that's true why has he held on to them for so long? The Barbie golf set he claims "since that's an outdoor golf-and-clubs set technically it's not something I'd give to a 4 year-old in winter" which I wanna ask why'd he wait so long to give it to her? Keep in mind he's claiming that most of these are prizes from some sort of Barcade but I don't know what Dave & Busters carries new born items or a Barbie mini-golf course. I suppose they could be for his sister's kids but I'm not even aware if she has any at this point in time. I also don't know how much contact he has with her or if she shut him out after his embarrassing appearance at her wedding. Either way this is all speculation on my part and it's fun to speculate as it's the only thing we can do. Bob is an unreliable narrator at best and a flat out liar at worst.

The Last Jedi was ALMOST subversive, but then it bitched out and undid any interesting choices it made by the end of the film.

Kylo LITERALLY SAID "all this Star Wars shit is tarded and has been going on for too long, we need to put an end to it", but by the end of the movie he's basically the new emperor and ready to continue the cycle of war.

OH MY GOD

"Bob "Moviebob" Chipman (a.k.a. Moviebob or basement Bob or MSTmario)"

How long has he lived in his parents' basement? Holy shit, no wonder he's so fucking obsessed with living underground without saying he's a basement dweller!

If the bars in Bah-Stown are anything like the ones in Washington, then this is entirely sadder than you can imagine.

WA state has ticket bowls and punchboards. The ticket bowls have rip-tab tickets that either tell you what prize you won or have numbers. For prizes like Bob is showing, you'd be doing number rip-its.

Punchboards are boards with about 500-5000 little holes in them. You use a key, kind of like for spam or sardines, to punch the hole, pushing out a tiny folded piece of paper that you unfold and there's a number.

Some bars, tourist traps usually, but sometimes even hole in the wall white trash bars, have all kinds of things on the rafters and the like. I have literally seen: Kid's bikes, crockpots, barbie sets, Tickle Me Elmo, and more.

So that means Bob sat at the bar, drinking beer, and playing pull-tabs or punch boards and won that shit.

When he says "Barcade" I think of either this, or something even worse.

Chuck-E-Cheese with beer. Basically a supposed hipster and cool thing, it's usually full of people slumming it or people trying to justify drinking there because they're trying to win their kids presents.

Meaning he was playing the games you find in Chuck-E-Cheese, drinking beer, and collecting tickets, to the point he could have went out and bought that shit cheaper.

Either way, that makes him more white trash than any Methican American living in a trailer park, fucking his sister, and eating mayo sandwiches.

Here in the NYC area, barcade is an actual name of a chain of bars, they're all hipster shit holes that are basically old school arcades with a bar. The one that I was in didn't have any prizes like that, just assholes that would side up to the cabinet while I was playing gauntlet with my friends and tell us why the game was inferior to some other game I had never heard of
