Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

My only concern for Dawntrail is that they literally jumped the shark in Endwalker. We went to the far reaches of space and fought the entire reason that Zodiark, Hydaelyn, and everything had a reason to exist. The problem being, MMOs work a lot like a martial arts anime, the next big bad is always bigger, scarier, and more powerful than the last; just where do we go from here? I get the Dawntrail will be a reprieve, but okay, let's just say you kick the can down the road with a three year expansion, what's next?

I'm not saying they're going to stumble, but I'd be lying if I said I don't see them in a hard spot. And you can't just use Ascians and their experiments as a reason for everything to keep happening, they need to sleep.

I'd be interested to see what kind of threats arise that aren't universe ending level.
A villain more contained and realistic would be sort of refreshing. I know a lot of people aren't excited over the idea of us getting mixed up in more political bullshit across the sea but I can only hope that it won't be so prominent and that we're allowed to explore to our heart's content and just marvel at a land completely new to us.

It seems to me that they intend to keep threats more localized and grounded for now. But they've basically done everything but say that we intend to travel to the remaining shards at some point, along with the rest of the Source. I think we're probably two or three expansions from any cosmic level threat again. Plus there's whatever Solution Nine is supposed to allude to.

Even though mnt dew tastes like cowpiss.
Id glady do anything and pay any price, just to get that mount.

Used the benchmark, got the score 12133, "very high". Seems like I'll make it another expansion without needing to upgrade my pc.
So I tried the updated benchmark and had to go back in this thread to find my original score as it was the only place I mentioned it.
Anyway, got 13875 this time, same hardware and settings, so I assume some optimization has been made, or the score is random and Yoshi-p is just fucking with us.

I Just bought FFXIV, are there any classes to avoid?

Nothing really. Just know that pretty much all the jobs are fucking tedious to deal with up until you've cleared the base game (ARR.)

The nice thing about the job system is you can tinker with the various jobs without having to level up/make a new character. I would recommend leveling either a tank or healer in conjunction with Lancer (the game's MSQ throws a shitton of XP at you, so that shouldn't be an issue) just so you can queue into shit super quick. I would recommend Marauder, personally.

Also if you're into crafting, realize that crafting is all interconnected and pretty much relies on shit from every other crafter, with the two outliers being ALC and CUL (mostly.)

It's got me sitting here wondering if everyone in my neighborhood just really likes mountain dew or if I'm surrounded by more ff14 players than I realize.
Let's be honest, mmo players aren't exactly known for having a healthy diet.

Stock dwindling in your local mart might be up to five soda guzzlers of chantal girth swapping from their sugar water of choice to the dew just because of FF14.

And considering the point rewards go all the way to hundreds of bottles consumed, I would not be surprised if you caught one on a scooter packing a dozen of the things in your next trip.

Nope. All jobs are so homogenized that they are all functionally the same so pick your favorite flavor. The real decision is do you want to heal or not. Tanks are just DPS who happen to have aggro on them, healers are also DPS but you do sometimes have to watch health bars.

Also know that FFXIV has basically no commitment. Your one character can do anything and everything and switch between it all whenever you want. The only thing you can't change is your race without paying. Try out everything and see what you like. FFXIV focuses on being evergreen so whether it's old content, leveling jobs, crafting, or whatever there's something worthwhile at the end and you are never hard committed to your choices. You can even change your Grand Company, your crafting specialists, etc so never be afraid of getting locked into any choice.

They’re also going to give you a Fantasia for free once DT launches.

Sidenote: if you're considering using a Fantasia to change your character, wait until the release of Dawntrail. They're changing the process to give you 60 minutes of game time to try your character in-game and freely make changes before they're locked in.
It takes a little more time but I’ve just fixed this by making an alt character to see what they look like in-game. Very nice QoL though.

I guess tooltips are starting to leak. I don’t really care much about em but I’m sure they’re interesting to someone.
