Saints Row thread

I mean, you constantly see dumb fucks in the comments of old games on Youtube acting like every copy of them vanished, referring to them in the past tense and all acting like they can't be played any more.

Then you go back to your old games that held up.
Is the idea of no more new vidya really so bad for people?
This. I don't see why so many people are so worried about there never being any good games in the future. First off, of course there will be, just keep checking the indie scene and ignore the pretentious shit there, you can find lots of gems. Triple A games in general have been bad for years but occasionally put out something decent, some people don't need to worry/doompost about it being completely doomed. Second; as you said, go back and play old games. I have two dozen games in my Steam library that I still need to play, all of them being older releases. Then there's a shit ton of games I need to play on things like emulators and what not, and many games still get updates with more content to play. Then there's of course replaying old classic games you love, maybe getting all achievements in some, doing challenge runs of certain games, and so on. We could stop getting new games for 5-10 years and I'll still have shit I can go back to and play. I ignore the tards who have some weird stigma against older games because they're "old", older games in a series tend to be much better than newer entries anyways. People who feel the need to consooom all the brand new vidya need to go back and enjoy the classics, and stop dishing out 60-80 bucks on polished turds.

/v/ does get some good stuff out of this while reddit is still on copium.

It's honestly baffling how many gamers I meet who either have no concept of emulation or simply can't seem to figure out how to use an emulator.

Will it still let me create a character whole cloth and give me some more creation options?

Will it let me edit my own radio station so I can listen to my early metal/punk/postpunk mixes while wrecking shit?

Will the guns have more weight and "ooomph" to them?

Will it give me some options to edit my gang's look?

Are the controls at least passable and not too floaty?

That's what I want. I don't give a drop of piss in the ocean about how sexy the females are or if the gang's look like hipsters.

Never been a worry for me. I know there's always basement dev, politically incorrect cowboys out there to keep things alive. They've been my anchor for many years now.

SR3's gunplay was better than 2, and the controls were good enough, so that won't be a point against it.

No gang editing tho. Blech.

Ser_Salty, the OP of the thread on Reddit, seems like such a lovely fellow totally open to discussion.

Jim Robs, what could it mean? There must be some sort of pun in there somewhere. It's super subtle after all, Volition doesn't want to be blatant with it's sex jokes like Rockstar is.

SerSalty2.JPG

If we got more games like Saints Row 2 we'd be so bored of them. So many interesting activities to do with a simple but well put together plot would bore us to tears. Volition needs to reinvent themselves every year and experiment and not be like GTA who has has totally not been successful despite stagnating with Online.

Gangs aren't culturally relevant. I know this for a fact as I type this on my laptop at Starbucks.

SerSalty4.JPG

Everyone loves quirky side characters that do random shit for lulz, like not wearing a shirt when everyone else wears shirts. Kevin is so silly. I wear a shirt everyday and he doesn't!

It's going to be the best game guys. The best! It'll sell even better than Saint's Row The Third did after the beloved Saints Row 2!

Seems like Ser_Salty is a TLOU2 fan as well. What a masterpiece it was, maybe Neil took some time out of his busy day to help Volition write Saints Row's story? Damn those haters ruining such genius writing!

If you think the game has shit humor then you "just don't get it" and you probably have autism.

SerSalty9.JPG

Don't play it if you don't like it and allow us to spread our roots further into gaming please. You're offending me with your opinions.

Also: has anyone else noticed how just about every female character in games now has to have problem glasses and a giant fucking nose? What's the deal with that? Self-insert or what?
Can't offend the fat retarded dangerhairs by having attractive women in your game, but feel free to have all the hot dudes you want. Like in Mass Effect Andromeda:

Someone earlier in the thread mentioned the idea of a Saints Row reboot being a mid 2000s period piece, why not go with that?

I'd love to see game with the aesthetic from back when "gangsta" stuff was still cool.

Honestly, doing a Saints Row reboot as a 2000's period piece could work well if it's more in the direction of the first two games.

You could definitely go the gangsta route of the original and that's the best approach to a back to basics reboot.

But if you didn't want to go that route because it's too played out or "dated", there are other ways to reboot Saints Row without making it a shitty Watch Dogs clone with lame Zoomer aesthetics.

Since GTA is dead outside of GTA Online and Mafia's open world gameplay is very limited, I think a reboot or spin-off that's more mafia-styled might actually be kind of interesting.

Make it more in the style of The Sopranos and focus on a mob family in decline around the early 2000's.

The player character being the kind of person who brings them back to the top and out of a mix of desperation for new blood and being impressed at their unusually extraordinary mix of skill and luck, decide to let the player become a made man regardless of their gender or ethnicity.

That way you can still have the character customization the game is known for.

Apparently it is based on the people in here who are willing to buy this garbage as long as it's a carbon copy of Saints Row 3's gameplay.
ok, I will tell you why this whole SR situation is so bad:
  1. GTA V E&E is in ~2 months and we still don't know shit about that game; it's possible it will be just repackaged PS4 version
  2. if younger consumers will be conditioned to liking modern, ballless games, it never will end (and we always will be treated like old, -ist grognards)
  3. from points 1 & 2, we can conclude that only good situation for GTA-like games fans are GTA V E&E being an actual upgrade or/and nu-Saints crew growing some balls on course of game (both things are very doubtful)
  4. tl;dr: we're fucked
