Bros I'm so fucking tired of hyping myself up to play games I never end up playing. I know some games still immediately attract me, but then I'm like "Oxygen not included looks hard but manageable", so I get a bit hype for it, install it and just lose all interest. Likewise still going strong on years of hopium that I'll one day get into fighting games, only to see them crumble as life-long genre fanatics quit.

And at the end of the day, I still just think "yknow, being a basic mage in wow sounds kinda good too", and I actually play WoW when I've got it installed.. I keep telling myself I should just stop being delusional and play the game I organically move towards, but at the same time it may just require a few hours of forced labor in a new game to really get hooked.

Somewhere along the line it became easier to read a chapter than to play a game for 15 mins. :(

Does anyone know of a way of turning off or at least toning down the fart gas/fog in unreal engine games?

This is just damn ugly and it ruins the look of the games. I've looked up something called the "Universal Unreal Engine 4 Unlocker" which was paywalled but kemono.su offered a mirror but having played with it a bit I can't really figure anything out.
The fog doesn't "ruin the look of the game", it IS the look the developers chose.

Why are some spergs so fucking retarded about any kind of artistic stylization in games?

In other events, my kid got me Promise Mascot Agency for Fathers' Day this weekend.

Fun game, great off-beat humour throughout, but the way tasks are presented makes it super-easy to screw yourself out of the best ending without even knowing it until you get to the end.

I still recommend it.

Hearing Nexus mods was sold?
They transferred ownership, doesn't really say who just that it wasn't a company.

Source: Nexusmods.com Archive:Ghost

After almost 24 years of running Nexus Mods, the time has come for me to step back from the day-to-day management of the site. This isn't a decision I've made lightly - far from it - but one I think is in both my and the community's best interests.

I started this project back in 2001, in my bedroom, with a 56k modem, an excitement for the upcoming release of Morrowind and with no grand ambitions or intentions. I didn’t set out to build a business, I just wanted to make a place where modders could share their work without worrying it would vanish into the internet either the next time a fansite went offline or a publisher decided they were done with it. That idea grew legs, sprouted arms, and turned into Nexus Mods.

Since then, this site has been my entire adult life. Every single day, for over two decades, I’ve been "on call", whether it was fixing issues, reading feedback, pushing updates, or getting pulled into the latest bit of community drama. It’s been rewarding, sometimes chaotic, often exhausting and always personal. Somewhere along the way, I forgot to step back and breathe, or sleep properly. The dilemma of running a major social network that does not rest!

The strain of being responsible for the behemoth I created has taken its toll. The stress of the job has been a regular source of anxiety and stress-related health issues. I realised that I have been burning out and this started to have an impact on my staff and Nexus Mods as a whole. So, I firmly believe that the best thing for the future of Nexus Mods is for me to step aside and bring in new leadership to steer the business forward with renewed energy to make Nexus Mods the modding community we all truly deserve.

One of the biggest reasons I've been doing this for so long is that I've never felt that I truly found someone who really "gets" the modding community the way I do. Finding a new owner who would be able to understand and respect the myriad intricacies of both Nexus Mods as a business and the wider modding community was essential.

After months of meetings, face-to-face talks, and a whole lot of soul searching, I am thrilled to say that I truly believe I have found the exact right people for the task.

So yes, the ownership of Nexus Mods has changed hands, but I want to be clear, this isn’t some corporate “exit” or a backroom deal. This is me doing something I probably should’ve done years ago: taking care of myself. Reclaiming some headspace. And finally letting go of the idea that I have to do everything and be responsible for everything myself.

What changes now?

Honestly, not a lot, at least not from your side of things.

Behind the scenes, I’ve already been stepping back bit by bit. Over the past few years, the team has taken on more of the weight and the site’s been doing better than ever. What’s changing now is simply the formality of it, making sure the right people are in place to guide Nexus Mods into the next era.

That includes some structural updates to the company ownership that we aren’t shouting about, but I want to be transparent: they’re about long-term stability, not changing the values or direction of the platform. Nexus Mods is community-first and mod-author focused, that’s not up for negotiation.

While I am stepping back, it's important to understand that Nexus Mods isn't just about me and hasn't been for a long time. The Nexus Mods you see today has been created by a team of 40 incredibly dedicated people, some of whom have been here for over 9 years. They live and breathe modding, they care deeply, they’re experienced, committed, and they're very much still here. None of that is changing.

So if I can ask one thing, it’s to continue supporting them, the site, and the community they help nurture every day.

In terms of new faces, you’ll also be seeing more of Foledinho (Victor) and Rapsak (Marinus), who’ve come on board to lead this next chapter. They’ve got deep roots in gaming, tech, and most importantly, they give a damn; about the site, the community, and the future we’re trying to build here.

They have my complete trust, and I’m incredibly proud to be bringing them onboard.

What about me?

I’m not disappearing. I’ll still be annoying people on the Mod Author Discord, lurking on the forums, and sticking my nose into community matters when I can’t help myself. I’ll also be working with the team to help guide the overall direction of the site, just without needing to be the person who signs off on every little thing and without taking responsibility for any and all things Nexus Mods.

Frankly, that’s a good thing, for me, for the team, and for the future of Nexus Mods.

I don't appreciate being called a sperg for asking for an option to turn off a post processing visual effect that was caked on for seemingly no reason and results in thick amounts of fog layered onto almost every floor in the game, including a very sunny beach that funny paint brush headed creatures use as a parkour training ground and is where I took that screenshot.
It's only game, you don't have to be mad.

I've recently been playing Clash: Artifacts of Chaos. I wasn't keen on it at first but slowly I've been enjoying running around an alien world beating the hell out of everyone who comes my way.
The combat hasn't really opened up in any significant way but the more I play the more I understand how to chain attacks beyond just dodges and heavies and can comfortably take on five enemies in one area and weave between their attacks when previously I'd struggle with two and it's a really cool feeling, mechanically.

The reason is that the people who made the game put it there. No more reason is needed than that.

And you are far madder about the issue than I am. I am just laughing at an entitled austist.

Had the itch to play some Songs of Syx.

I feel like a lot has changed between v67 and v69 (need to opt in on steam), definitely worth another playthrough- apparently this is going to be the last beta patch before 1.0. I enjoy the new events (one was actually quite brutal, wiped out almost half my population), the map also feels a lot more alive this time around even though 'normal' on everything at game start is still far too easy as you can bumrush free cities with mercs and never need to mine/trade for raw resources.

If the guy manages to fix the total waresque rts segments and make them a bit less janky this is going to be a really cozy 9/10 eventually.

I don't understand steams "advanced access" pre-ordering thing. Broken arrow is out to people who pre-ordered... But I can just buy the pre-order now, pay the same price as I would in 2 days, get the pre-order bonuses, and have the exact same refund terms.

Why is this called pre-ordering, the game is just out, this shit makes no sense. Anyways, if it's good I might toss a review in here later. I played the demo last year and it was so fucking fun, I doubt they fucked it up somehow.

I bought this after seeing someone do a video on it, played for like 30 minutes and shelved it. Looking forward to 1.0 because it really does feel right up my alley, just wasn't the right time for it before.

In my opinion, if a game doesn't hook you right away you can reasonably write it off, you don't need to put hours into it first. It may still be a good or even great game, perhaps even one you'd like, but there's a practically infinite number of games and you only have finite time to play them all, so you're better off only playing what you really want to. Just play the best games, the ones that click right away.

It's odd, cause I clearly don't mind wasting time (by reading dogshit fiction). But games? If i don't feel it 29 minutes in and the alternative is refunding it, receiving back both $20 and the time I'd otherwise suffer through it, that's an easier choice than to push through it. Then you got the games like fighting where I really wanna be a 'fighting game kinda person' rather than 'be a person who plays fighting games'.

I don't like mmorpgs, but I always return to them. "Oh man, Grim Dawn, Diablo 2... being a simple mage on a quest to explore and conquer.. As a female troll. In WoW. Hell yeah- oh wait it sucks dick". Now that I got a new mon-fri job, I could actually raid reliably etc, so I might look into it. Shit, you still meet decent folk playing wow. It's niche enough that you won't just meet trend chasing kai cenat ahh niggas. You may even find a simpleton person your own age who just kinda play here and there, not rushing life or games. I'd say a 'cozy gamer' but those are tiktok posers at this time. You want cozy? Find the bitch farming minipets in Northrend.

Comparable to alcoholism, WoW is just easy. I could buy a 1-year sub and just have the games installed. Play when I want to; no shame. Alcohol wise, the best times I've had with it was just "I'm gonna buy alcohol and drink it tomorrow friday". It's all the mental toil of "I shouldn't.. but if I leave now.. but I could avoid it.." that sucks. I just have this weird idea that WoW is a net loss and I should rather force myself to suffer a shit game like Tekken 8.

I feel that way about everything nowadays, really. But at least fighting games are something you can tangibly observe your improvement in, unlike many genres. Sure, you could be learning a new skill or something, but if you're gonna play games they may as well feel rewarding. I'd say play something older through a collection, pick up a copy of Capcom Fighting Collection or something, I've been having a blast with it.

One thing i do appreciate about older games like WoW is that the people who want to play the game are still playing WoW. Thought about going back to WoW. But with a career and family, I don’t think i would find enjoyment of the game.

Sometimes i’ll go through moods where i’m like, “i wonder if i would like to play something more popular “ and I’ll sign up for a free trial. Like madden for example. 99% of the time, i’m always disappointed. But for some reason, i still want to do it from time to time.

Last time i did that, was the PS4 multiplayer demo Black Ops 6. While i enjoy the gunplay, i absolutely hate how much Activision caters to zoomers taste. Really want to try NCAA 25 but i don’t have a current gen console to check it out and i’m not looking to spend hundreds for something i might not even like.

Ok, so as stated earlier I played a bit of Broken arrows(Steam) I really enjoyed it, so here is my review.

Positives
  • For a top down fast paced RTS game the graphics are pretty good, they went as far as giving vehicles with windows like the Humvee a low detail interior with a little man driving the car.
  • The multiplayer is really fun and in my opinion well balanced.
  • The balance itself is notable in that unlike a lot of games the US and RU aren't just equal clones. The US has better units but they are more expensive, Russia has worse but swarms of units. Along with other differences like the US arty kinda sucks and is expensive while Russia has loads of great arty that's pretty cheap. You can get a shitty Abrams variant for the price of almost 2 shitty T72s.
  • The deck builder is by far the best out of any similar game(example warno) you pick two divisions, get access to different vehicles based off of that, and can customize the equipment on each vehicle.
  • Really in depth mission builder that lets you make your own scripts and upload the missions to the steam workshop.
Negatives
  • Voice acting in the campaign kind of sucks. Even though the units are acted by native Russian speakers the story people in the Russian campaign are clearly Americans trying to speak in a shitty fake Russian accent. Why, I don't know.
  • Performance at graphics options above medium is terrible. Medium kind of sucks in terms of quality but only if you zoom in, which you'll only really be doing in the campaign because multiplayer is really fast paced.
  • No single-player AI skirmish mode for some reason... You can do PVE but only if you have at least 2 players???? Really bizarre tbh.
  • Apparently the campaign is bugged and one critical US mission is impossible to complete. I am sure it'll be patched soon but worth nothing.

So, I started my broken arrow play-through by fucking with the deck builder since I already played the beta and got the basics. I popped together a RU and US deck mostly focused around defending front lines since I focused on this in the beta and it was really fun to garrison buildings. This took about an hour or so due to how many options there were, my favorite units were the US tow launcher squad and the Russian Grad arty truck.

I played a little of the campaign and did the first two missions, the second one was actually really hard and I barely completed it. But I think that was intentional since holding the point it wanted me to focus on was only a requirement to get the silver ranking. Either way I had fun with it but wanted to try multiplayer after.

On my third match I was playing US after doing a bit of Russia game play. All my team mates were pushing on the east side of the map so I decided to defend an area on the west which had a little neighborhood with some commie apartments, office building, and a bunch of houses with a river on both ends. One other team mate was helping me but his priorities were further east across another river and this was more him trying to flank through my area.

At first it was pretty good, I setup TOW, snipers, AA units in a commie apartment which overlooked the neighborhood and had 5 other similar setups in houses distributed around the area for good resistance against arty. But then once we hit stage 2 it seemed the Russians figured out they weren't going to get through on the eastern front due to all the units dumped over there and 3 of them decided to hit my front at the same time in some sort of coordinated attack.

Suddenly I was fighting 8 tanks which constantly were redeployed the second they died, 12 squads, 4 attack helicopters, 5 APCs, 2 SPAA, unknown amount of arty, and a bomber. With only my 12 squads, 4 apcs, 1 long range AA system, 1 attack helicopter, 2 tanks, and 2 arty APCs. My ally had 2 recon squads, and 3 tanks in the area, but was kind of playing like shit and just kept rushing at the Russians without any cover.

The first thing they did was take out my AA system with a lucky arty strike from far away which overwelhmed it and then swarmed my allys side with tanks wipping out everything he had deployed to help me. We managed to kill about half of the tanks but the russians just kept reinforcing with an infinite wave of shitt tanks and APCs. We lost one point but still controlled the whole town and the other point with my units. They managed to locate my arty while it was rearming and knocked it out preventing me from counter striking their artillery.

I am trying to reinforce my units here but my ally isn't much help since he insists on sending a constant trickle of helicopters that just instantly get killed by an SPAA that I can't hit since it's behind a building I can't move up to. But I am still holding till an enemy bomber comes out of nowhere, dodges all my AA units and levels half of the town killing two of my most important garrisons. With that they start to flood in with infinite swarms of units and we are pushed back all the way to the bridge on our river.

Shit is pretty bad and I am, now just holding the river trying to prevent them from pushing into our spawn and spawn camping us. But finally some people in the east start sending backup. The turning part in the battle was my ally finally deciding to send tanks instead of swarms of helicopters to their death and the enemy deciding to attack an office building which I was garrisoning my units for an offensive causing them to loose half their force at the cost of only 2 apcs and a machinegun squad.

I now start moving into the town and with all their tanks gone I realize that the enemy hasn't garrisoned a single AT focused squad in the town. With that I push in two shitty ass LAV-25s that I only had to move units from house to house and start slaughtering their garrisons while they all try to run and fleeback to their point. We eventually push up far enough to take that point and even challenge the Russians river towards their spawn before the round ends

I had a lot of fun with this match.

The game gives everyone a lot of points to fuck with and with how big the maps are and the 5v5 setup you can mostly focus on your part of the map unless things get really bad on other fronts. One of my complaints with red dragon and warno was that it feels like there is no front line and you are just sending a couple units back and forth across the map towards points. With this there is deffinetly a front line and you are expected to setup a solid line with the rest of your team to prevent flanking.

This is 100% my favorite game this year and I feel I am going to dump a load of hours into it.
