Just finished the new Golden Idol DLC - The Lemurian Phoenix.
Plot and puzzle wise I'm not the biggest fan.
The first level is as easy as they always are but I like the misdirection in how the killer escaped.
Second level just fucking sucked. The murder weapon had zero significance towards any other clue in the area and the random suitcase buried in the woods made fuck all sense.
Third level I mostly enjoyed outside of the name puzzle.
Fourth level was my favorite mainly because there was lots of visual deduction and language deciphering. I did wish that they'd have a very obscured look at whatshisname standing behind the waterfall to show him giving the "prophecy"
Fifth level was cool too but I wish they'd visually distinguish the assistants more, and where Pravi Nagasai fit in with the original prophecy made no sense to me.

Liked the music too.

Am very much enjoying Xenoblade Chronicles X on the Switch. About 60 hours in and I just unlocked my level 50 skell and flying and am looking forward to completing the map. Really glad they remastered this as dealing with the dual screens and shit if you emulated the Wii U version was a big pain in the ass.
So thankful they added map tags for enemy drops/collectibles/squad tasks/anything you could be looking for.

that's what they tried with tf2 (battery mechanic and nerfing titans).
In TF1, satchel charges and AT weapons could badly damage a titan. Given the base-kit electric smoke, I'm under the impression that TF2 Titans are stronger and more noob-friendly.
I feel like hurting Titans in TF1 is easier than in TF2 if you could express your skill in getting near them or positioning yourself.

Finished Ender Lilies the other day and it was fine. I enjoyed my time but expected more from all the talking up of it I've seen over the years. The music was pretty, but not at all exciting and I was missing something to get me pumped during the sometimes overly difficult boss fights.

Against my better judgement I'm jumping back into Elder Scrolls Online next. I love playing the game like a single player entry in the franchise, just questing and taking my time. Going to try an Arcanist for the first time as I hear they're a bit broken in what they can solo.

Does anyone know of a way of turning off or at least toning down the fart gas/fog in unreal engine games?

This is just damn ugly and it ruins the look of the games. I've looked up something called the "Universal Unreal Engine 4 Unlocker" which was paywalled but kemono.su offered a mirror but having played with it a bit I can't really figure anything out.

The previous one was better but the current one is still pretty good. Prefer them over the base game that got too complex and annoying by the end (the whole name change fucked with some of my answers). Unsurprisingly you like the puzzles if you get hold of the logic early, otherwise it can be really frustrating when you just go down to trying randomly (in my case the third puzzle I got stomped by the "trick", but every other case was alright).

I want to try Mechabellum, anyone enjoy it or hear good things? It's supposed to play like Team Fight Tactics/Autochess/an auto-battler, made by ex-Blizzard devs. The Grubby videos online make it look cool. Curious about the other Dawnbreak games and Foundry on steam, another automation factory game.

check if the engine.ini is encrypted. if not you can change graphic settings to your hearts contend. of course it depends how it's used ingame, but looking up "engine.ini" + "fog" should do the trick (iirc the setting has outright fog in the name, but can't remember if it has any special values).

yes and no. the main difference is how it works between games. in tf1 is was pure attrition (pun intended), you could duke it out but the more evenly players are matched in skill the more boths sides will suffer hull damage in the end - even if you win, it doesn't take much for someone else to finish your titan off. this also added a bit of strategic element when and where to get rid of your titan. there was some order to the chaos, but e-sport fags hate that unpredictable element with a passion (same reason burn cards got removed)

however problem is with randoms it will always comes down to "which team has less idiots", there is no fix. the only thing you can do it at least make it fun while losing. shitting on an almost dead titan with an AT at least gave you some satisfaction, and the maps somewhat supported the david vs goliath gameplay compared to the 3-lane moba design in tf2.

so when people whined about MUH LATEGAME where one team is doing better inevitably, respawn's solution was to.. add more mechanics, because apparently that makes it more accessible. what happens now is a better player will still roll you, or some teammate will rodeo you, turning your titan into wet paper while at the same time the enemy will not only take less damage themselves but also buff their titan back up. how this is supposed to make snowballing less severe fucking you over even harder when playing against a coordinated stack is anyone's guess.

it's also no secret that titanfall's gameplay in general is more of an acquired taste, they tried to nerf some aspects (like MUH ATTACK VECTORS getting killed from above and people moving too fast to track, so maps and abilities got nerfed) while adding more shit that in the end does the opposite. new mechanics like the battery shit, new movement options, fucking grapple etc.
none of that makes it more "accessible" for the mainstream crowd they were aiming for that just wants to w+m1 like the average cod match.

I'd like to compare it to counterstrike, a game that is great in it's simplicity. but now imagine you got some secondary fags who never really played cs or even liked it, out to "improve" it for a sequel, and suddenly you got ADS, prone, leaning, hitscan, abilities with cooldowns and all the other fancy shit a "modern gamer wants" and it turns into a game wearing a cs skinsuit.

think they got nerfed by now, but are still strong. the new feature this year is subclassing, taking skill lines from other classes. that will probably lead to some new clusterfuck.
ESO is one of the few games where the "community" is extremely chill (lot of boomers, maybe that's why), which makes some casual group play feel more like the days of old. but there's still room to get sweaty ofc.

depending where you stopped this might get you hyped. word of warning tho, it includes some spoilers (like the elsweyr cutscenes, which are pretty goat).

Finished Dragon Quest III HD-2D on Steam. Was a good time, if maybe a few hours too long considering how light on story and heavy on samey combat it was. Still, I hope they keep remaking older JRPGs in this style, really nice to look at.

Next single player game on my list is Code Vein. Dunno how far I'll get as I'm not super good at soulslikes, but we'll see.

I keep confusing Code Vein with Scarlet Nexus. I finally got it dirt cheap and it's actually kinda good. "PeRsOnA LiKe" relationships that unlock skills etc. Hate the combat though. In general I'd love more games with good rewarding social relationships but that's literally just Bioware innit.

Still sad I rushed through Oblivion Remastered. Now I sit here staring at 8-10 games I'd love to play but I'd literally have to force myself. It's annoying and yet I don't even try. "aight, 3 hours of satisfactory right now". Nah i dip out and doomscroll KF instead.

Scarlet Nexus plays really well but the story is super frustrating. The characters are deliberately stupid to justify half of the games events. Still a fun game.

The game is easier than most soulslikes outside certain parts like invasions because you are given AI companions to use.
Enjoy the Cathedral area, but don't worry no other area is like that.

Dang, I missed the last day of Shield Hero: Rise before it shut down because I forgot. I didn't really play it much but it would've been neat to see the game off.

Code Vein was a lot of fun. It has super liberal co-op compared to other souls games. If your helper dies you can just summon them back immediately and you can password protect your summons so as to always match with your friend. It also has a helper you can bring along with you. I finally beat it early this year and it was worth finally getting through. For difficulty compared to other souls games I'd say it's not too bad outside of some learning curves, you get a ton of skills/classes and it encourages you to try them out.

This is unfortunately a game I haven't beaten. I've gotten about 10 hours into it at the furthest and I keep starting from the beginning when I go to try to beat it (considering I don't remember the gameplay/story by the time I try it again.)

I'm currently playing Stellar Blade and it's made me realize that I didn't read anything when I played it on PS5. I'm doing basic combos I probably never touched the first time I played. The Nikke collab is also pretty fun. Stellar Blade with Nikke is definitely better than the opposite. Trying to control Eve on BlueStacks was a chore but it'd probably work great on touchscreen.

Most of the classes blood codes sucked ass and some of them took forever to obtain, on top of there being too many for most players to wrap their heads around. Then factor in most of the abilities being locked to the codes with no real way of determining what's any good without a ton of investment and then squint real hard because the icons aren't distinct and the names are forgettable... man I think trying to parse all that information was even worse than grinding out all of the depths levels. I don't really have any interest in the sequel but I hope they iron some of that out.

It's an alright game, I enjoyed it as a whole, but it's definitely pretty rough around the edges. Some stages have rather questionable design, a lot of it is samey, and the encounter design isn't as good as DS. Good parts outweighed the bad parts for me in the end. Never beat it though, but I got my money's worth at least.

Honestly I'm just following what a lot of people suggested and going Atlas/Greatsword and tanking as much as I can since I'm not super good at souls games in general. I'm just aiming to get the good ending, not touching any of the post game or DLC.

Expedition 33 is an Unreal Engine 5 game, this wouldn't work either. It looks foggy as shit but it's by design, you can completely turn off fog in engine.ini but it looks wrong and breaks some effects severely. Turn down the post-processing quality to low and it'll tone down the fog.
And the HDR mod is mandatory if your monitor supports it.
