I think Nick's flock is more accurately crack moms. White trash types who cling to conservative or lolbertarian dogma for purely self centered reasons. I think many of them see themselves in Nick as a "persecuted" figure and project a ton onto him. He's more than happy to play into it to feed his narc need for control.
The kind of women who still stick around Nicholas the drug-cuck are the same single mothers that invite suspicious men into their lives then go to bat for the suspicious men to the point of testifying in court against their own children even after video and rape-kits proves their children were abused due to their choice in men, the kind of people who cannot be helped.
I think them denying the people the footage reflects poorly on Kandiyohi County and makes them seem complicit in either abetting a convicted criminal or trying to absolve themselves of percieved guilt. I believe the only way to show themselves in good faith is by releasing the footage, unless they have something very dark to hide.

I wonder if the county trying to suppress the footage is because there is something in it the county is guilty of in inlusion to nick. Like the police or the county messed something up that would have indicted nick way more and so all parties involved do not want that footage to come into the public perception.
What is Kandiyohi county trying to hide? Is it true that this was all a setup to get Nick? Did the cops rub cocaine residue into his daughter's hair to get a positive test and ruin Nick's reputation because he was speaking truth to power? What I don't understand is why the county is willing to help him? He has accused multiple people multiple times of planting evidence and improper behavior, but they can't actually have done this on the footage because then he would be releasing it himself regardless of how dirty it is, he wouldn't have even pleaded guilty.
I was fairly convinced that this guy had given the county plenty of motivation to spite him, now they're trying to deny an order to do so? There has to be something greater at play here.

This is not about Nicholas at this point, I am sure of it. Everyone is trying to protect themselves from losing the benefits of being in the good graces of the Rekieta Crime Family and their oil money. My view is that it is not so much about protecting Nicholas as it is protecting the Rekieta reputation and remaining in the good graces of Bob and Celeste. They hold the county moneybags and can stop donating to, or supporting the businesses and organizations of anyone related to the person or persons considered to be guilty of failing to stop the release of the bodycam footage.

very easy to keep the donations far away from the goal you are actually paying for. You want a specific judge or sheriff to be elected?
Simple, attend public events and social gatherings, like the Rekieta Crime Family is well known to do, talk up your candidate regularly to powerful and influential people while asking how their grandkids business is doing, perhaps you will shop there in the future?
Ask how their sick relative is doing, maybe they need a better place in a nice hospice, help jumping the line for a spot in a certain hospital wing, or they could use help finding a good doctor? Maybe one of their relatives is organizing a charity or public event, ask about it, promise to attend and invite some of your rich friends to come along, easy.
Maybe their nephew is having problems securing permission to build a new store or house? Promise to mention it to your good friend on the City Board or Mayor as you are having dinner with them next weekend. I could go on describing the basics of small town influence peddling but this is already long winded.
